Moneat: Sentry + Datadog drop-in replacement (v1.0.7 release)
themes: Login and access, Mobile app, NAS and deployment, Performance, Pricing and value, Privacy and ownership, Reliability and bugs, Search, AI, and discovery, Sharing and galleries, Support, Upload and import · rating: · relevance: 1
Hi everyone - I just released v1.0.7 of Moneat and wanted to share it with you guys. I'll try to keep it brief with a question format:
### How is this different from every other "x monitoring alternative"?
Moneat aims to be a drop-in replacement for two main alternatives: Sentry and Datadog. Meaning, to swap from these two platforms, only a configuration change is needed (e.g., DSN, auth keys).
### How does it work?
It uses the Sentry SDK and Datadog agent for ingestion. Simply point these at Moneat's ingestion.
### How's the installation?
There's a 3 minute installer that walks the user through the process, or a docker compose for power users.
### Why did you build this?

Questions about performing the admin account reset

My dad set up a DS220+ a while ago. He passed away around 3 years ago, so I can't access his account or the admin account. As far as I know there's multiple accounts with varying access levels to the data on the drives. I have access to a limited amount of data on my account, but I want to view everything on there. I can't seem to figure out the admin password and my mom doesn't know the password to it. I know there's a method to resetting the admin account, but it's on DSM 7.0.1 and I'm worried that the drives are encrypted and I'll lose access to them by performing the reset.

The problems... Synology keeps detecting and disabling my NVME disk and taking my storage offline, causing my recordings to go weeks before noticing I'm not recording anything. Clearly I'm losing this battle. Also, NVME recording seems to have a lot of ghosting issues, where the MP4's play back and frames tend to have intermittent skipping in cert

I've tried software like AudioBookshelf, but that requires you to manually download all the episodes you want to listen to on the server ahead of time. Some of that might’ve been due to weaker image quality on my end, but honestly, I’ve also felt let down by print shops quite a few times.
So now I’m trying to figure out what I might be doing wrong, or what I just don’t understand yet. I usually export from Lightroom (sometimes Photos), but I’m not entirely clear on the best export settings for printing. Things like file format (JPEG vs DNG/RAW), resolution, sharpness, and file size are still a bit con

Keeping Old Camcorder Tapes?

Ten years ago, I took two containers of old Hi-8 and MiniDV camcorder tapes to a media professional in the area to have them converted, as I was aware the tape medium would eventually deteriorate and I wanted the memories preserved. At the time it was quite expensive and took several months, but the individual created 120 DVDs and provided a Western Digital 3TB MyBook which contained the AVI files, as at the time I was utilizing an HP laptop. The quality of the DVDs is surprisingly good, and I kept the WD drive as backup but never viewed the files.
This past year I came across the two containers of the old tapes and the WD drive. Having recently purchased a new MacBook Pro, I attempted to v

For the past \~6 weeks I have been working on Transmute, an open-source, self-hosted file converter, because I felt like there needed to be another option in this space... Well, we just broke 200 stars and have worked through some issues from initial users, so I finally feel comfortable sharing it here!
Self-hosted projects like [ConvertX](https://github.com/C4illin/ConvertX) and [Vert.sh](https://github.com/VERT-sh/VERT) already exist, and they’re both solid and more mature than Transmute. If you are happy with those tools or cloud file converters you can stop reading, it won't hurt my feelings <3
To me though those tools still feel a bit clunky or rough around the edges. I wanted to h

Hi community,
I am Josh. I’ve been drafting and tweaking this post over the last week... I felt like I needed to say something about the current state of Unmanic, and more generally, my open source projects. I feel like I do not promote them enough, or maybe I just do not engage in enough community discussion and feedback. I’m hoping this post might be the start of me doing things a bit differently in that regard.
I’ve been developing and maintaining Unmanic for quite a while now (since December 2018). For those who do not know what it is, Unmanic is a self-hosted tool for automating the management of file libraries (things like normalising/repairing video file formats, cleaning up unwante

Adobe portfolio website building

Hi everyone -
I'm wondering if anyone else has an adobe portfolio website - Ive had one for years, I love that its included in the subscription but recently Ive been wanting to polish it up & re-do the galleries and have become a bit frustrated - one of my biggest grievances is that the photo galleries feature (while great for quick uploads, and reordering ease) does not convert well for mobile display - the grid will not down size to single file for mobile. The only way to make this happen that I can tell is to upload each photo individually onto the page, placing each photo intentionally where you want it, as reordering is basically impossible in this format. I'm wondering if anyone h

Digital Photos, Organizing, and Local AI

I have many thousands of digital photos that I have taken over the years. All personal photos... not business related. Family, vacation, parties, etc. I have a simple system to organize. All photos are appropriately dated in the meta file... so photos are organized by YEAR, then MONTH, then DAY inside cascading folders. Its a simple format, but it works for me (I know some people prefer specific events categorized together).
I also backup all my photos monthly to a physical drive. And every month, the batch I backup go to a different drive. I rotate backups to 3 drives. And then (and I do this part more for being able to easily view photos and show them to family) I also upload all my photo

Moving from Windows to Mac with a few NTFS drives (Total 40TB)

Hi I moved from Win to Mac and realised my drives are NTFS formatted (so read only on mac), I have 2 big drives 12tb for long-term storage, all the others are 4tb I occasionally use.
I've read exFAT and its issues ... (lacks journaling and will corrupt your data more easily)... But would make them natively readable by my mac, but I have so much data to move...
So given I have so many drives, should I just use PARAGON on mac? I've seen good reviews its the best program to read NTFS on mac and I then keep those drives as NTFS.
I use ssd's for video work and moving around, so really these HDD drives are to backup my photography or editing personal photos in Lightroom or phone storage b

Help a NAS noob out - Synology photos or Immich or both?

Hi!
So I have JUST started out my NAS adventure - just set up the Synology DS925+ with 2 6T drives and SHR RAID. I haven't installed any SSD cache or extra RAM but maybe I should...? (Need to??) Need some advice on how to proceed with at least two decades of photos! (and other files for that matter)
Backround:
I am generally not afraid of technical things and consider myself much more technical-inclined than the average user. But also I didn't even know what a NAS was untill 1 month ago so there you have my knowledge level 😅 Like, I'm able to play around with CSS in Obsidian and on websites I run, but I really have no idea how to code.
Current situation:

Does Format.com gets wildly expensive after the first year?
themes: Mobile app, Pricing and value, Search, AI, and discovery · rating: · relevance: 1
Hi everyone!
I'm trying to get a nice website with custom domain for displaying my personal 'artistic' work. Sharing it for portfolio reviews, apply for photo workshops, etc. Not commercial.
Format is the best porfolio builder I've seen so far, I really like it. The Pro plan at $12/mo billed anually sounds ok. But looks like it's a one-time first year offer for new users. Also in the details, it mentions that you get to connect your custom domain for free only the first year, then you get an extra $20/y charge.
My question is mostly for long-time format users: Does it get that expensive after the first year? Have you by any chance received discounts for renewal? How much do you pay anuall

Looking for a simple, large format instant camera
themes: Reliability and bugs · rating: · relevance: 1
Hello everyone,
I'm looking for an instant camera for my girlfriend: she wants something super simple to use, like point & shoot, but with photos larger than the mini format.
We already shoot on film (Canon Prima, full auto), so we like the automatic and spontaneous side.
I spotted the Instax Wide 400, but the reviews are mixed: some say that the photos are often poorly exposed or too random.
What would you recommend instead for a nice result, wide format, without the hassle? Or would the Instax Wide 400 work just fine?
(Usage: souvenirs, evenings, trips, no complicated manual settings.)
Thank you in advance for your feedback!

Loose power outlet on a recently purchased (and returnable) Synology NAS, looking for alternative, comparable models

I'll try to make this as short as possible while including the most detail as well.
About a month or so ago, my DS918+'s NIC board (Ethernet ports) fried during a thunderstorm. I looked around for comparable alternatives that would hold my four HDDs formatted with the Synlogy Hybrid RAID (SHR). The best I could find was a used DS1522+, which at the time I understood would decently transcode and be comparable overall. I was wrong.
In addition, I just very recently found out just how loose the power outlet is on the back of the NAS. I initially planned on keeping it and getting a mini PC to run and transcode Plex, but now this doesn't seem to be a smart move.

From the moment I walked in during opening week, I knew this was going to be my new favorite spot in town. The atmosphere is nothing short of welcoming, encouraging, and genuinely empowering. The sense of community here has completely transformed my workout routine — it brings so much joy and motivation to every visit. All of the instructors are incredibly talented and consistently deliver the best workouts I’ve ever had. I especially love the sculpt class — it’s the perfect way to kickstart my morning with an amazing burn. I truly can’t recommend this place enough!

The classes are seriously challenging (in the best way possible) and have pushed me to a new level. I’ve seen such a difference in my confidence and strength even after only a few classes. My favorite class so far is Sculpt as it's challenging and fun! The post workout endorphins are the best feeling! The studio’s aesthetic is so on point. I’m a author & writer currently working on my daily blog (“Good Intentions), and it’s end of the week wrap up Blog Podcast. This blog is part of the half dozen websites that I’m in the process of building. I’m constructing six websites at once with each from a different website building provider, service or App like Format. Out of all of them the Format website and Wordpress websites that I’m building are by far the best. Easy to build, professional looking and tons of help and support. You can’t ask for much better in my opinion- thank you Team Format!
