### Description So, I've been having problem with Ente Auth for a while now, it happened after I update the App but also probably because I updated my distro as well, but weirdly enough, the old version app on the updated system was fine, until i reboot and it no longer works. Basically, latest AppImage version won't open, but older version does open, but with no way of unlocking the vault (no password prompt). For the first problem basically the AppImage version failed to mount some file into the /tmp folder or something. While the latest version from AUR or the much older version of AppImage (4.4.12 and below) does open just fine but with no way of unlocking the vault. <img width="

iOS app crashes when searching and selecting photos on both my and my partner's iPhone.

It really struggles to do a simple backup of a few sub 1 minute videos. The UI is lovely but I don’t think I can rely on it because of its poor performance

It prompts for you to buy more storage even though the storage isn’t full. It gives you 10GB free which is okay. It filled up to 10.03GB pretty quickly so you make space I deleted over an hours worth of videos from the ente folder (not the “on device folder)” and it still says it’s at 10.03GB even though it hasn’t backed up anything else. Yes, I went to the trash folder to make sure to permanently delete. Same result. I already have an external hard drive so I’m not overly pressed about buying more storage. The $2.99 seems reasonable enough, I just don’t like feeling like I’m being played or lied to over it. There’s no way the forage hasn’t budged after that delete. It’s that reason why I’m

I love that this app is a good alternative to google or amazon photos. It has end to end encryption. Though this app is very buggy, frequently randomly closing or marking my daily spotlights as invited after they were reviewed.

Good luck uploading photos when you have to baby this app to keep it open long enough to upload more than 10 at a time. I thought it would only be this unstable while uploading but even after finishing the app still won’t stay open longer than a minute. It’s a shame because this is the best alternative to G Photos but because of this crashing issue it’s totally unusable.

I'm not a young guy, and I use exclusively high-end professional services. To have one of them change their icon from something that looked extremely professional to something that reminds me of a high school dating app is quite frustrating. They have allowed users to modify that icon on the mobile app, but the desktop app remains the same new cheesy dating interface.

The app isn’t very intuitive to use. I wish there was parity on all features between web and mobile. I don’t find it easy to navigate my albums on mobile at all.

The app has a bug that prevents people from sharing the album. This existed two weeks ago when I first downloaded it and still does to this day with no response from their support team. Would probably be a great app if you could share it with people.

Overall this app works pretty good, and I like the security and privacy features built in for those extra privacy-focused. I have not gotten a chance to test out the de-duplicate options yet but one thing I frequently do is visually skim through my library when the image thumbnails are smaller. When you do your initial sync (I have about 40,000 items, and about 1,000 are videos, and the iPad Pro app freezes and crashes frequently when getting about 3/4 through the initial sync. The green spinning circle goes SO SLOW for about 1-2 minutes before the app crashes, and only 4-8 videos got uploaded. I had to do that a LOT and hope it ran overnight when it was time to go to bed. I assumed guest view would lock the phone so you can’t leave the app, or look at other photos besides the ones you selected for guest view. Guess not. Can you add that feature?

I've been using this app for years on my phone and PC to back up my photos. It's reliable, fast, and easy to use. It's the quickest way I've found to transfer photos between my devices. Couldn't recommend enough!

one of the best photo backup apps if you care about privacy. I like that photos are end-to-end encrypted, the app works across devices, and it feels much more trustworthy than ad-based cloud services. The design is clean, backup works well, and sharing albums is useful. It may not feel as deeply integrated into iOS as iCloud Photos, but for private photo storage, it is a very strong option. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants a serious alternative to Google Photos or iCloud

Definitely worth the download because no other app gives a free 10 gb of e2ee storage. However, on my arm pc I def need a way to download the app, I remember seeing one on GitHub but I’m not fully sure.

I started out with Google Photos and then moved to iCloud Photos. I still use iCloud but wanted a backup option. I started using Immich, but it has so many quirks I struggle with. Now that I’ve found Ente, I’m really excited about moving my backup over. This app is clean and fast and I look forward to how it evolves.

Ente was the killer app that got me away from Google. Safe, secure and way beyond functional. Typically when you have private alternatives they lack functionality or feel locked in. Ente has better features than any other photo backup out hands down. And it is super easy to keep a physical backup of all your photos and it is super simple to use. And it is just getting better!! Give it a shot, you will not be disappointed.

Uploaded and organized years of my photography into Ente from Google Photos and my PC. The shared albums are really nice too! Ente’s encryption and servers are just awesome! Recommend reading about it on their website.

Categorizing plus detecting duplicates, close, similar and related media is just super handy.

It's a great choice for storing Live Photos. While other apps can store Live Photos, they often result in distorted images. Ente solves this problem perfectly, providing the same photo-taking experience as iOS. The 10GB of free storage is more than enough for the average user.

Finally a company who wants to do photos the right way. The app is amazing, so easy, handles any stop in uploading pictures perfectly. There are obvious improvements to make but all the basics & even some advanced features are there. I wish there was more competition in this space. Google photos & others like it are scary.

This is probably the best Photos app that I’ve ever used thats also 100% private. The only thing it wish it had would be more themed color options and a cute App icon featuring the adorable duck. Otherwise 5/5.

Love the app. The focus on privacy and not being tied to google or apple however when you compare prices it is kind of rough comparatively. However as a user of EnteAuth I want to do my part in supporting a company with a privacy focus.

Simple and easy to use! It’s dependable and easy to access photo. I love how easy it is to clear up free space on my phone after uploading too. I just wish the manual upload limit was more than 50 photos!

Our whole family uses Ente Photos. Absolutely fantastic. I wish there was a way, when Ente believes a photo to be of person X and it is incorrect, to tell it so from the photo view. This way, when I tap a memory photo from the widget etc, I could immediately correct an error.

Overall a great, if pricey , app for private photos. Works on my work network too unlike other cloud solutions so I can share with colleagues. Needs custom photo ordering within an album and I’ll stay long term instead of switching to immich. Alternatively, a 500gig plan would work to keep my sub long term. I have 250 gigs of photos so a 1tb is a huge waste of funds for me.

I have started to distance myself from google since their products have started to become worse over time and so far this is the best google photos alternative I can find

it's almost unbelievable that this app was made by a small team (12 people according to what I read) and yet they delivered one of the best privacy-based photos app.

This application hits the sweet spot. They don’t mine your data like other companies like Google Photos. It works across platforms unlike Apple photos. I’ll be using this service for all my photos for life. Also they keep making a great application even better.

This is a great alternative to Big Tech which is slowly consolidating control over all digital services. I was a long time user of Google Photos and was pulled in originally by their false promise of free, unlimited storage. Now Google Photos caps it at 15GB and constantly reminds you to upgrade and pay them while also adding more and more advertising for other services. Google Photos and iCloud also make it much harder than it needs to be to export your data or back it up to other locations such as an external hard drive. This has subtle qualities that makes it more user friendlier than Google photos and iCloud.

Great UI too, wish I found this earlier. The only problem I have is when I download a photo from the app the date and time doesn’t reflect on my on device photo album. The date/time always show up as when I downloaded it. It would be great if that could get fixed.

Ditched Google photos for Ente and not looking back.

First of all, works great. Built-in duplicate resolution, too! Videos? Awesome. 5GB for free! Fantastic! Speedy, too.

Been using the app for a few weeks now and no issues yet. A little slower than id like, but it’s definitely worth it. Will definitely keep using Ente over the next few months to see if worth keeping. So far so good!!!

Yeah this app is fantastic, and i haven’t had a problem with it saving images in a lower quality like google photos does. also unlike google photos, you don’t have to back up your entire device on it every time you open the app just to save a couple photos to it. i wish it was a little more clear on what photos are actually “uncategorized” but other than that this thing is amazing. there’s even a way to delete duplicate images!

To the other solutions out there, but I’m not personally ready to shell out until I get some more usage out of it. The 1gig cap on the free trial is a bit limiting for getting a handle on the offering, but I get it.
