Hi there. I hoard all taken (and processed images, maybe i get rid of some raws which are trash \^\^) but also family photos, pets and gardening. Currently I use google photos for the most part - at the 2 tb plan - photos taking about 1.2 tb currently. My issue is: google offers me to draw a map with markers about images taken there. But only for me. Not my family members. uploading all the images to all of our accounts would be overkill - current main idea is to move everything to a new google account with subscription and share that account - but its more a workaround. I've looked around but found only digikam (locally stored on one machine) or photoprism (web based), mostly with revie

My photos come from mobile phones, a camera that provides geo tagging, and a Nikon Film scanner that I use to bulkk scan transparencies, where for each batch I set an approximate date and file name with sequential numbering. I used to use Moments (Date changing and automatic colour and rotation, also face recognition) and Photo Station (date editing) to manage my photos. I have used Photoscape X on W10, mostly for cropping, by mapping /photo to a Windows drive I have now upgraded to DSM7.2. Synology Photos only provides only face recognition and date editing. ( I haven't seem any object recognition yet). Reviewing other photo management software DigiKam seemed the best option and seem

Language/typo fixes; document used both "Licence" and "License" as a noun, unified to "Licence". Well, duh. Just now spotted the note below. optionally keep image extension in XMP sidecar file names
themes: Login and access, Metadata and organization, Mobile app, Reliability and bugs, Search, AI, and discovery · rating: · relevance: 1
Many programs (Capture One Pro, Lightroom (I believe), and others) construct the XMP sidecar file name _without_ the image file name extension, replacing it with 'xmp'. digiKam (and several others, like darktable) instead append '.xmp' to the full image file name, including the original extension. There are pros and cons to both approaches. The changes in this commit make it configurable to keep the image extension or not in the file name when constructing an XMP sidecar file name. A checkbox (defaults to checked) "Keep Image Extension in XMP Sidecar Name" was added to Settings > Configure digiKam > Metadata > Sidecars. Some references: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?i
